CGS Third Grade Students were intrigued by the Renaissance. Renaissance means "rebirth," and these students chose to think of it as a rebirth of asking questions and searching for answers.

Project Components

They enjoyed the Age of Exploration - reading about Magellan, DeGama, and particularly Columbus
In literature the students explored the plays of William Shakespeare
The students studied DaVinci and Michaelangelo in depth
The Counter-Reformation spawned a veritable explosion of the arts, which the students studied intensely
Students individually selected and re-created their own portions of images from the Sistine Chapel
